Possibility's Angel

The angel fell inward,
       evermore bound,
       until curiosity found an end.
Content, he returned,
       this being of light,
       bearing hard-won shadows,
       brighter for the contrast.
He'd earned the sweep of dark spaces,
       the pain of distance from source,
       the simple weight of things.
Cratered and scored,
       his heart brims a first-hand kindness
       for those snared by
       stubbornness, denial and dread.
So he closes the circle,
       dropping again without falling,
       along that harried way.
He gathers
       the bottomed-out,
       end-of-the-line,
       ready-to-return
       and seeds them a promise:
       Desire to desire to begin,
       and I will hold to your side
       as companion and guide.
He condenses possibility
       for all who would be touched
       and sparks hope
       in the journey and its end.
